Week 5 Injury Report: Sunday AM

Some fantasy stars can be found on the injury report every week, but will they play? Here at No Huddle, we will give you the most updated injury report at the end of every week. Then on Sunday, stay tuned to our twitter account @No_HuddleFFB for the latest news!

Early Games:

Redskins @ Ravens:

Looks like the Redskins will be without Josh Doctson again this week with the Achilles injury. He did not practice this week. Look for Washington to struggle here Baltimore is the best team in the league against the run and they have been making people one dimensional all year. I do not like the Washington offense here.

So at Nohuddleffb.com we have really been talking about Kenneth Dixon a lot. This week he practiced in full and it looks like he will be getting back on the field coming off his knee injury. Look for him to get limited snaps in his first game back from injury. The good news here is that Washington is the worst team in the NFL against the run. Look for the Ravens to clock control and play stout D with good field position and control the game.

Patriots @ Browns:

For Patriots fans it’s basically an early Christmas. Tom Brady is back and they are traveling to Cleveland! Oh Happy day. The Browns are ranked near the bottom of the league in pass and rush defense. Now the Pats are not completely out of the woods Julian Edelman (foot), LeGarrette Blount (hip), and Rob Gronkowski (Hamstring) are all listed as questionable with limited participation in practice. I think that Edelman and Blount have full roles so play them in all formats. If you have Gronk you paid high for him and I’m of the opinion that Brady returning is just the thing to get Gronk going. Play him this week too. That being said, the Pats are the best team in the league at keeping injury news tight to the vest. Check on all your players before the lineups lock pregame.

The Browns. The poor hapless Browns. Corey Coleman is still out with a broken hand and Joshua McCown did not participate in practice this week either and is out. They also have the Pats coming to town this week. The Pats are not exactly juggernauts on Defense ranking 26th the league against the pass and 18th in the league against the run. I like Isaiah Crowell in this one. Look for super athlete Terrelle Pryor to get a lot of looks as well.

Eagles @ Lions:

The Eagles are officially back to full strength as Zach Ertz and Ryan Mathews are coming back to Eagle’s attack. They travel to Detroit this week to face one of the weakest defenses in the NFL, and on TURF. Everyone is faster on turf. The Eagles are quietly the number 1 passing offense in the league and Detroit is the worst passing Defense. The math here tells me Carson Wentz, Zach Ertz, Jordan Matthews, and Darren Sproles are must starts in every format.

The Lions are home this week to face the Eagles and look to be missing a few key parts of the offense. Running back Dwayne Washington (Ankle) is doubtful, tight end Eric Ebron (Ankle) is out, and wide receiver Marvin Jones (Foot) is questionable but was a full participant in practice. Offensive Coordinator Jim Bob Cooter did say this week that Golden Tate would have a huge game, but forgive me if I’ve lost trust in Tate so far this season as he has been overshadowed by the aforementioned Jones. The Lions have not been bad on offense this year but I’m not trusting the Lions this week against the league’s best past D. The best play of the day here for me is running back Theo Riddick as the Eagles have given up fantasy points to opposing RBs through the air, Riddick’s specialty.

Bears @ Colts:

Yikes, the Bears may start thinking about early hibernation this year. After taking one glance at their injury report I’m floored that they still find players to take the field. Kevin White (Ankle) may miss the rest of the season, QB Jay Cutler (Thumb) is doubtful and who knows if he will actually get his job back when he is healthy, RB Jeremy Langford (Ankle) is in the same boat as Cutler, WR Alshon Jeffery (Knee), is still limited and listed as questionable, TE Zach Miller (Ribs) was limited this week as well, and there are a slew of other non-fantasy impacting injuries here to deal with as well. The good news in this game is the Colts are really banged up as well. If you have Bears, check on them pre-game and if they go play them. The Colts have been awful on D so far this year.

The Colts are not as banged up as the Bears, but are still banged up at some key positions. WR Donte Moncrief (shoulder) is out again. They also added Frank Gore and Andrew Luck to the injury report this week, but they were full participants in practice and will play this week. Bottom line here is that the Bears and the Colts are pretty bad on D and both teams should put up some fantasy points in this one.

Titans @ Dolphins

The Titans seem very healthy coming into this week. They are traveling to Miami this week and where there may be some residual effects remaining from Hurricane Matthew that tore through the Eastern coast of Florida this week. We have seen lots of games postponed or cancelled in the NCAA ranks and there seems to be some contingency plans for the NFL games if they cannot be played this week as well. Keep your eyes on this one to make sure it’s played on time, but it appears everything is should be played as scheduled.

The two big injuries to keep in mind for the Dolphins are RB Arian Foster (Hamstring) who is doubtful and TE Jordan Cameron (Concussion) who is out. We mentioned the Dolphins D this week in out Chasing Defense column. Mariota has struggled so far this season and as Mariota goes, so does the Titans offense. Play your Dolphins this week. I have a feeling they will be extra motivated this week with a poor Titans team in town.

Texans @ Vikings

The Texans have stayed pretty healthy on offense this season. This week they will be welcoming back Braxton Miller but may be losing T Duane Brown (Knee) who is listed as questionable. However, this week they are going to face the Minnesota Vikings in Minnesota. The Vikings are ranked near the top of the NFL in pass and run defense. I’m expecting a tough game for the Texans offense this week.

The Vikings welcome the Texans this week. Houston is ranked near the bottom of the league in run defense this year so look for the Vikings to lean on Jerrick Mckinnon this week. Especially, with Stefon Diggs likely out this week with a groin injury. This may be the opportunity rookie WR Laquon Treadwell has been waiting for. I think he will be a sneaky DFS performer this week.

Jets @ Steelers

Eric Decker is out this week again with that torn rotator cuff, Darrelle Revis looks doubtful as well with a hamstring after not practicing all week, and continue to monitor the status of Quincy Enunwa who is listed as questionable with a knee as he did not participate in practice this week. This is shaping up to be a tough game for the Jets as Pittsburgh will look to make them one dimensional as they are one of the best teams in the league against the run. If you are looking for a good play from the Jets this week, look to Brandon Marshall at WR and Enunwa if he plays.

The Steelers continue to add injury after injury each games. Though most of the injuries that will keep players out of this game are on the defensive side of the ball, they will be missing WR Eli Rogers (toe) and RB DeAngelo Williams was added to the injury report after not practicing. Neither of these players were going to get the nod for your fantasy team in any format anyways. The Jets are ranked 31st in the NFL against the pass this year and Revis may miss this game. Big Ben and Antonio Brown are looking to have another huge day.

Afternoon Games:

Falcons @ Broncos

The good news is the Falcons are healthy traveling to Denver this week getting back TE Jacob Tamme and WR Mohamed Sanu to full strength and full participation in practice. The bad news is they are going to Denver to face one of the strongest defensive units in the NFL. We don’t know yet about RB Tevin Coleman, who is a carrier of sickle cell trait, and how he will react when exerting himself at altitude. Keep your eye on his status as the game goes on. Look for Devonta Freeman to get lots of work this week, but against a tough Broncos run defense.

It’s looking like second year QB Trevor Siemian will be out. The feeling around the Bronco organization is the Siemian gives the Broncos the best chance to win, but Rookie 1st rounder Paxton Lynch is nipping at his heels. It should be all Lynch on Sunday.  TE Virgil Green got back to practicing this week on a limited basis and he is listed as questionable for this game on Sunday. All signs point to this being a game made for CJ Anderson this week who has scored in 15 of his last 16 home games.

Bengals @ Cowboys

Tyler Eifert is going to miss this game with now a back injury. Those who drafted Eifert have to be disappointed with his limited participation this season. Other than Eifert the Bengals are pretty healthy going in Dallas this week. Obviously play AJ Green in all formats as he’s been a man on a mission so far this season.

Tony Romo had a very positive MRI this week and we should see him back on the field after the Cowboys bye week. Dez Bryant did not practice this week and listed as questionable, I would call him more doubtful this week. Look for the Cowboys to run the ball with Zeke and control the clock and field position. Looks like this one is shaping up to be a low scoring ball control kind of game.

Bills @ Rams

LeSean McCoy and Charles Clay were both limited participants in practice this week, but I think both will play this week in LA. Monitor their status closely for any tweaks or changes. LA has been pretty good on D so far this year, I think McCoy has a sneaky good game this week even with the hand injury.

The Rams look pretty healthy heading into this week 5 matchup. This is the game I think that Todd Gurley has to step on the gas and find a way to get it done. Brian Quick has been showing teams that they will not be able to continue to put 8 or 9 guys in the box to stop the run, because if you do he can put up the points to beat you. The Rams have found some balance and I think this is the game Gurley gets rolling.

Chargers @ Raiders

The Chargers lose another key player this week with an ACL and this time it is on the defensive side of the ball. CB Jason Verrett will have surgery on a partially torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season. That’s a big blow to the Chargers secondary that was already mediocre this season. The Chargers will also be without CB Brandon Flowers (concussion) who is listed as out this weekend as well. They may get TE Antonio Gates back this week as he was a full participant in practice and is listed as questionable.

Latavius Murray is out this week with a toe injury. Opening the door for DeAndre Washington to really carry the load for the Raider offense. As you saw in my paragraph about the Chargers above, they are decimated by injury in the secondary. Look for the Raiders to get a lead early throwing the ball and run the ball late with Washington to cruise to an easy win this week in Oakland. I like all the Raiders you can play this week.

The Late game

Giants @ Packers

The Giants will be going without starting TE Larry Donnell (Concussion) look for Will Tye to step into that roll. Rashad Jennings is listed as questionable with his Thumb injury and was a limited participant in practice this week. He is like to miss Sunday nights game. The secondary is pretty beat up still as well with CB Eli Apple (Hamstring) and Dominique Rogers-Cromartie (groin) both listed as questionable as well and were limited in practice this week. The good news is the offence is pretty healthy. I’m thinking this one could turn into a shootout. I like OBJ to break out this game. I guaranteed multiple touchdowns for him in Green Bay this week.

CB Sam Shields is out again this week with a concussion and CB Damarious Randall is listed as questionable with a groin injury. On top of that the Pack will be without TE Jared Cook (Ankle). There are lots of injuries to both teams DBs in this game and they both that the firepower on offense to take advantage of that. Like I said before, has the makings of a shootout.

Monday Night Football

Buccaneers @ Panthers

The big injury new for the Bucs this week is at RB. Starter Doug Martin and Backup Charles Sims were both missing from practice this week and its looking more and more like recent pickup Jaquizz Rogers will be the starter on Monday Night. Either way it goes, the Buccaneers will have to find some balance this year to open up the passing game. Look for them to try and get Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson, and Cameron Brate going in this one as the Panthers defense has looked susceptible this year to the passing game.

Cam Newton will not play on Monday vs the Bucs. He will miss the game with a Concussion. T Michael Oher, RB Jonathan Stewart, and CB James Bradberry did not practice this week and look like they could all miss Mondays game as well. The Bucs D is not the up to snuff so far this season, but not having to face Newton this week should provide a bit of a lift. I have not seen Derek Anderson take a snap in years and I don’t think I will on Monday either. This one looks like it will be one I can afford to miss. I’m sitting most of my fantasy options for the Panthers with Newton out.
