Down to the Wire: Week 13 Adds

by Chris Foster

Each week we will take a look at players who are more than likely on your waiver wire that can be added to your team and help you this week. One of the biggest complaints with waiver wire add articles is that many of these guys are not available in your league. Using ESPN’s ownership statistics, everyone mentioned in this article has 50% or lower ownership status. This article will be divided into two parts, standard and deep leagues. The players in the deeper league wire are typically guys that you can stash that have upside. If you use a Free Agent Auction Bidding (FAAB) system, in parenthesis will be the percentage of your budget we would use on each player. In those type leagues, know the bidding history of your opponents and adjust accordingly. Players are ranked in order by their position.

Since Down to the Wire only highlights players who are owned by less than half of owners in ESPN leagues, I first want to give you a list of guys who are only owned in 50-75% of leagues that would be premium adds over any other player in most circumstances (depending on your positional needs). (Percentage owned in parentheses)

*** WEEK 13 WAIVER WIRE ADDS***– If you are preparing to make a playoff run, it is imperative that you start grabbing your handcuffs to your top backs. We will have a fill list of handcuffs to own in the playoffs next week!

*** It is also time to spend that FAAB, no reason to hold onto it, so be aggressive when bidding!***

Standard League Adds:

Quarterbacks

QB C0lin Kaepernick (22.7% owned)(FAAB 15-25%): We mentioned him last week, and he went off again. The guy is on fire, and he has a great schedule during the playoffs. Read about him more in our Monday’s Reflection article.

QB Trevor Siemian (11.1% owned)(FAAB 5-15%): Siemian was on fire against the Chiefs on Sunday night. He threw for 368 yards and 3 touchdowns in the overtime affair. In week 13 he gets Jacksonville, followed by a schedule of Tennessee, New England, and Kansas City again in the playoff weeks.

Running Backs

RB Dion Lewis (45.1% owned)(FAAB 20-30%):  New England continues to work him into the lineup more and more. He is definitely worth grabbing in PPR play. I see his role only increasing as the season continues.  **PPR SPECIAL**

RB Adrian Peterson (36.7% owned)(FAAB 15-25%): Look it’s possible that he could be back in a Vikings uniform sometime around Week 14-15. That could make him available for a playoff run. The truth is, though, that the Vikings line is so horrible, I am not sure what kind of impact even Peterson can have behind them. I think upon his return he will be a flex play.

RB Kenneth Dix0n (25.1% owned)(FAAB 15-25%): He had his most touches of the season this past week. He had 17 touches for close to 80 yards. His backfield mate Terrence West has only averaged 2.9 yards per carry in the last few games and is clearly giving up work to Dixon. It could be Dixon’s show the rest of the way. **PPR SPECIAL**

RB Wendall Smallwood (43.3% owned)(FAAB 10-20%): Smallwood was picked up in a ton of leagues heading into this week. He was getting a majority of the looks for the Eagles on Monday night. Could be their featured back down the stretch.

RB Derrick Henry (46.4% owned)(FAAB 5-15%): Henry continues to shine when gets ample opportunity. The only problem is, I am not sure how much opportunity he is going to get going forward. It is fair to say that he should get some carries from Demarco Murray, especially in short yardage situations, but won’t be worth a consistent start unless he goes down.

Wide Receivers

WR Tyreek Hill (26.5% owned)(FAAB 50+%): Bid whatever you have left on him if you need help at WR. If you want to know my thoughts, read Monday’s Reflections.

WR Tyler Boyd (34.7% owned)(FAAB 15-25%): Boyd was the one who stepped up without AJ Green. It is just as likely it could be Brandon LaFell this week, but you hope that Andy Dalton is beginning to build trust with the young rookie.

WR Corey Coleman (47.5% owned)(FAAB 10-20%): Coleman saw only a few targets from Josh McCown on Sunday, but was able to reel one in for a touchdown. There is a good chance that Cody Kessler is back this week, and that is good for Coleman.

WR Malcolm Mitchell (0.7% owned)(FAAB 5-15%): I said that Brady would like Mitchell, I just said it 6 weeks ago. Brady has finally found Mitchell and they did it against this week as well. Mitchell had 5 receptions this past week including a touchdown. He may be someone we want to latch onto down the stretch with Brady!

WR Quincy Enunwa (40.7% owned)(FAAB 5-10%): I mentioned last week that I like Enunwa coming down the stretch. He had a big game on Sunday grabbing 5 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. He is still the #2 WR in the Jets offense, but with the schedule ahead, he could work himself into flex play.

Tight Ends

TE CJ Fiedorowicz (43.8% owned)(FAAB 10-20%): Fiedorowicz continues to be a solid option at tight end and provides solid TE1 production.

Deep League Adds

Running Backs

RB Charles Sims (8.7% owned)(FAAB 2-5%): Sims is back at practice this week and is eligible to come off the IR. It will be likely that he will step back into his PPR role as the 3rd down and change of pace running back for the Bucs where he had found a niche for himself.

Wide Receivers

WR Dontrelle Inman (6.5% owned) (FAAB 5-10%): Inman continues to see solid production with all the injuries to the Chargers offense. He had 6 receptions for 119 yards and his second touchdown of the season this past week. He is still a desperate flex play, but someone Phillip Rivers is finding more trust in each week.

WR Taylor Gabriel (3.5% owned)(FAAB 2-5%): Taylor Gabriel somehow continues to do it week in and week out. Over his last 4 games, he has 13 catches for 271 yards and 4 touchdowns. That is an average of nearly 17 points per game in half point PPR leagues. I don’t expect Gabriel torrid pace to continue, but he has definitely become the #2 WR in a great passing attack. He may just be a flex play.

Tight End

TE Ladarius Green (14.3% owned)(FAAB 10-20%): Green didn’t have a great game this past week against the Browns in horrible conditions, but not many Steelers receivers did. He has a great matchup this weekend and is worth keeping an eye on.
