Chasing Defense: Week 4

This is a weekly column that looks at the best defenses to chase throughout each week of the season. The goal is to give you a few defenses that should be available in your league that will give you an advantage at the defensive position each week.

This Week:

We have three really good matchups for you this week. Feel free to play any of these and expect a good return on your investment.

Play of the Week:

Lions (@ MIN): I know what happened last week to the Bucs defense against Case Keenam and the Vikings, but this is different. The Bucs has a ton of injuries, and the Lions are currently the #1 defense in Fantasy Football. They have created a turnover in every game, and beside that, we are still talking about CaseKennum! Start the Lions!

Others this Week:

Packers (v. CHI): It is a Thursday night battle in Green Bay against Mike Glennon. Seems like the perfect opportunity to roll the Packers defense out there. I even thought about making them the play of the week. So if needed, feel free to plug them in.

Titans (@ HOU): The Titans get to take on rookie QB DeShaun Watson. They will likely end up with a turnover as Watson has been prone to turn the ball over. Their rushing attack hasn’t looked the best either.

Revisiting Last Week:

Dolphins (@ NYJ): The Dolphins were our play of the week and they were only good for 4 points this week. They gave up 20 points, had 1 fumble recovery and 2 sacks. It is hard not to be disappointed by this result against the Jets.

Buccaneers (@ MIN): Wow, the Bucs got destroyed. I did not see this one coming. They gave up 34 points and had nothing else. They would have lost you a point if you would have used them.

Packers (v. CIN): The Packers turned out to be the best of our three choices by a point. They were able to get 5 fantasy points after allowing 24 points but getting 3 sacks and a fumble recovery.

Pipe Dream: (Team we wish we picked up)

Saints (v. CAR): Who would have thought the Saints would be our pipe dream this week. Yet, the Saints gave up only 13 points to Cam Newton who threw 3 INTs and was sacked 4 times. They would have given us 13 fantasy points!

Running Total:

We got to put our money where our mouth is, so here is how we have done so far this season!

  • Week 1: Rams D vs. Colts= 27 points
  • Week 2: Ravens D vs. Browns= 16 Points
  • Week 3: Dolphins D vs. Jets= 4 Points
  • Total = 47 Points
Our 47 points total would make our “Chasing Defense” teams rank as the #1 defense in the league. We will look for that number to improve this week!
