Down to the Wire: Week 7 Adds

by Chris Foster

Each week we will take a look at players who are more than likely on your waiver-wire that can be added to your team and help you this week. One of the biggest complaints with waiver wire add articles is that many of these guys are not available in your league. Using ESPN’s ownership statistics, everyone mentioned in this article has 50% or lower ownership status. This article will be divided into two parts, standard and deep leagues. The players in the deeper league wire are typically guys that you can stash that have upside. If you use a Free Agent Auction Bidding (FAAB) system, in parenthesis will be the percentage of your budget we would use on each player. In those type leagues, know the bidding history of your opponents and adjust accordingly. Players are ranked in order by their position.

Since Down to the Wire only highlights players who are owned by less than half of owners in ESPN leagues, I first want to give you a list of guys who are only owned in 50-75% of leagues that would be premium adds over any other player in most circumstances (depending on your positional needs). Standard League Adds:

Running Backs

RB Orleans Darkwa (4% owned)(FAAB 15-25%): Darkwa may be the best answer at RB this week (or Collins). Darkwa looked really good for the second straight week after gaining 100 yards against a tough Denver defense. He looks to have held off Gallman and is worth a shot for RB needy teams.

RB Samaje Perine (44% owned)(FAAB 10-20%): As long as Rob Kelly is out the Perine is worth picking up and starting. He was able to find the end zone last week through the air and will continue to get the bulk of the carries.

RB Alex Collins (29% owned)(FAAB 10-20%): Somehow Collins went down in ownership this week after looking really good again last week. I expect after another nice weekend his ownership will be back on the rise. He may be your best long-term answer at RB.

RB Alfred Morris or Darren McFadden (43-49% owned)(FAAB 5-10%): No one is for sure which of the two it will be replacing Zeke but rostering one of them is worth the shot if he were to miss time.

RB Dion Lewis (6% owned)(FAAB 2-5%): Mike Gillislee fumbled and then it was all Dion Lewis after that. He looks to be regaining form from a couple of years ago. He could end up being the main back in New England before it is said and done. **PPR SPECIAL**

Wide Receivers

WR Josh Doctson (12% owned)(FAAB 10-20%): There are no great receiver targets this week, but Doctson is probably my favorite. He is clearly their #1 red zone target and Jay Gruden said this week that they want to get him more involved. It looks like it could be his time.

WR Nelson Agholor (36% owned)(FAAB 5-10%): At some point, it stops being a fluke that he is turning a few catches each week into production. Not to mention that his QB looks like one of the best in the game right now. He is worth grabbing and seeing what happens next if you have the room.

WR Marquis Lee (30% owned)(FAAB 5-10%): I am not sure I want to fully rely on a Blake Bortles option but Lee looks to have clearly become the #1 receiver outside of the Redzone (Hurns).

WR Jordan Matthews (23% owned)(FAAB 5-10%): Matthews should return from injury in the next two weeks and when he comes back he could be one of Tyrod Taylors only pass options.

WR Juju Smith Schuster (6% owned)(FAAB 2-5%): With Martavis Bryant not only wanting out in Pittsburgh, but losing playing time, it could benifit Smith-Schuster more than anyone.

WR Corey Davis (33% owned)(FAAB 2-5%): It was only a few years ago when OBJ showed up halfway through the season and posted top 5 numbers the rest of the way. I am not saying Davis or Mike Williams is OBJ, but they could turn out to be valuable in the second half of the season for you. Get a lowball bid in for them before they break out.

WR Mike Williams (7% owned)(FAAB 2-5%): See Above

Tight Ends

TE Nick O’Leary (1% owned)(FAAB 2-5%): It has been a bad year for TE. With Charles Clay going down in Buffalo Nick O’Leary will be his replacement option. He was heavily targeted when Clay went out of the game, and he could be a sneaky pick up.
