Chasing Defense: Week 10

This is a weekly column that looks at the best defenses to chase throughout each week of the season. The goal is to give you a few defenses that should be available in your league that will give you an advantage at the defensive position each week.

This Week:

Play of the Week:

Patriots (@ Den): This one could be a little more dangerous with the uncertainty of the Patriots defense this season but Denver has been that bad on offense. I don’t care who plays QB this week, I like the matchup.

Other Plays:

Giants (@ SF): If Beathard is back under center this week then this is an advantageous matchup for the Giants defense.

Bears (v. GB): The Bears are only owned in about 8% of leagues and this one looks like it should be a layup. Brett Hundley has struggled and the Packers offense has become stagnant without Aaron Rodgers.

Revisiting Last Week:

49ers (v. ARI): The 49ers were good for only about 4 fantasy points this week. The bad news is they weren’t able to sack Stanton 1 time on Sunday. They gave up 20 points and had an interception and fumble recovery.

Titans (v. BAL): The Titans gave up 20 points and had 2 interceptions which were good for 6 fantasy points.

Raiders (@ MIA): The Raiders surrendered 24 points but had a sack and a fumble recovery for 3 fantasy points.

Pipe Dream: (Team we wish we picked up)

Jets (v. BUF): The Jets got to Tyrod Taylor 7 times and had 3 fumble recoveries on their way to scoring 13 fantasy points on the week, which was the best of the unowned teams.

Running Total:

We got to put our money where our mouth is, so here is how we have done so far this season!

  • Week 1: Rams D vs. Colts= 27 points
  • Week 2: Ravens D vs. Browns= 16 Points
  • Week 3: Dolphins D vs. Jets= 4 Points
  • Week 4: Lions D @ Min= 11 points
  • Week 5: Bears D v. Min= 6 Points
  • Week 6: Skins D v. SF=  5 Points
  • Week 7: Cowboys D v. SF= 15 Points
  • Week 8: Browns D v. Min= 4 Points
  • Week 9: 49ers D v. Ari= 4 Points
  • Total = 92 Points
Our 92 points total would make our “Chasing Defense” teams rank as the #3 defense in the league. We will look for that number to improve this week!
