Down to the Wire: Week 11 Adds

by Chris Foster

Each week we will take a look at players who are more than likely on your waiver-wire that can be added to your team and help you this week. One of the biggest complaints with waiver wire add articles is that many of these guys are not available in your league. Using ESPN’s ownership statistics, everyone mentioned in this article has 50% or lower ownership status. This article will be divided into two parts, standard and deep leagues. The players in the deeper league wire are typically guys that you can stash that have upside. If you use a Free Agent Auction Bidding (FAAB) system, in parenthesis will be the percentage of your budget we would use on each player. In those type leagues, know the bidding history of your opponents and adjust accordingly. Players are ranked in order by their position.

Since Down to the Wire only highlights players who are owned by less than half of owners in ESPN leagues, I first want to give you a list of guys who are only owned in 50-75% of leagues that would be premium adds over any other player in most circumstances (depending on your positional needs). (Percentage owned in parentheses)

Standard League Adds:

Running Backs

RB Danny Woodhead (39% owned)(FAAB 10-20%): Woodhead looked to be the main piece of Baltimore’s attack before he went out with an injury in week 1. He should be back in the next couple of weeks as he started practicing last week, so now may be the time to go grab him.

RB Rex Burkhead (11% owned)(FAAB 5-10%): As long as Chris Hogan is out I like the way that the Pats are going to use a healthy Rex Burkhead.

RB Dion Lewis (36% owned)(FAAB 5-10%): Lewis continues to get the bulk of the carries for New England and he looks like he is regaining the form of two years ago. He has become their #1 back.

RB Rod Smith (14.5% owned)(FAAB 5-10%): If you are a team on that is likely in the playoffs then I like this pickup for you. I think that Smith will own the Cowboys backfield once we get to week 13 and beyond, which means he could help you win your league.

RB Samaje Perine (6% owned)(FAAB 5-10%): With Rob Kelley likely out for some time it will be Perine on the early downs and then Chris Thompson on the later downs. We have seen Perine succeed earlier in the year in Kelly’s absence and I think he can do it again.

Wide Receivers

WR Josh Doctson (26% owned)(FAAB 2-5%): Doctson saw his most playing time and targets this week and set a career high in receptions. It is clear that he has become the teams #1 receiver.

WR Jamison Crowder (48% owned)(FAAB 2-5%): The offense continues to improve and put up points and Crowder has been a focal point of the Redskins offense.

WR Corey Coleman (7% owned)(FAAB 2-5%): Coleman is set to come off the IR in the next couple of weeks. He caught a touchdown in week 1 and could be a sneaky pickup, the downside is that he obviously plays for the Brows.

WR Corey Davis (32% owned)(FAAB 2-5%): He continues to get double-digit targets and should have scored a touchdown last week that he fumbled into the end zone. He could be a league winner late in the year.

WR Marqise Lee (42% owned)(FAAB 15-20%): Lee has been pretty solid over the last couple of weeks and seems to be gaining the trust of Blake Bortles. He will be relied on heavily now with the absence of Allen Hurns.
